This sign was originally painted by boys thankful to Mr. Buchanan who, every year, would bring 60 to 80 boys to tour Alaska. The boys would have to pay 1/3 of the trip themselves, scrounge another 1/3 from their parents, and Mr. Buchanan would cover the other 1/3. Volunteers now repaint the sign every couple years.
